"Performance Fish" Initial test footage & Fin Recommendations 🌊
Â
@ThomyeSurfs notes from youtube:I liked the HELM Weekender Mini Simmons (Quad) so much that I decided to try out their Performance Fish. It has less volume than the Weekender but likely has a slightly higher ceiling for performance. These waves were a bit sloppy and difficult to surf. But I will try and get it out on a few more days. Because it isn't my board, I used the fins it had on it which were MR Twins with a stabilizer. They worked pretty good but felt like they needed a bit more drive and hold. The hip (almost looks like a sting) is high up therefor it created a pivot point which felt like the fins weren't deep enough. A slightly taller stabilizer fins would also be helpful. #surf #surfer #surfing #surfboard #surfboardreview #minisimmons #quadfins #twinfins #softtop

His youtube channel & Instagram account has amazing in depth reviews of great surfboards from big names such as Firewire, Channel Islands (CI), Pyzel, Lost, Aipa, Album, Sharp eye and more. Â
We also love that he is testing the boards in local Socal average / subpar conditions to showcase how the boards work in our daily conditions. Â

Our Performance fish comes in 2 sizes & 4 colors:

Combining aspects of a performance shortboard and classic fish, the Performance Fish is one of the most versatile options for a surfer's quiver. Able to catch waves and generate speed like a fish, it will get you through the flats and speed through hollow sections with ease. The modern thickness flow hides foam in the right places to enhance paddling capabilities so the board can be ridden extremely short. The beveled rails form a triplane, creating a foiled rail that you can sink into the wave face. This allows the slightly wider and thicker attributes to be responsive to aggressive directional changes enabling stylish cutbacks and top-turn hacks. The proven dimensions and bottom contours create a well-rounded user-friendly board that appeals to surfers of all ability levels. From mushy-soft faces to speeding barrels, the performance fish won’t let you down.
Recommended fins:
FCS II: MARK RICHARDS TWIN + STABILISER FINS
This would be most suitable for lighter weight riders and surfers who are looking for a quicker, snappy and skatey feel.
FCS II: POWER TWIN + 1 FIN SET
This would be most suitable for larger riders, and also surfers who are looking to push through turns with more aggressive power surfing approach. Excellent hold and drive through turns.Â
Thomye's recommendation. Â
These would be closer in FCS II to the Power Twin template (VS MR Template).Â
Great ready for Spring/Summer waves with this super fast, performance wave-catching sled 🌊Â
